I tried to like this unit, but a basic flaw and customer support has made me wish that I spent more for Garmin or Magellan. I was even prepared to live with the dim display and weak audio.
If you forget to turn the unit off, don't be surprised to see a dead or dying battery. Regardless of whether you select never, 10, 20, or 30 minutes, it will only dim the screen after a few seconds("Smart Power Save," turned on), but it will never fully standby, with the screen off; something that even my bottom of the line Magellan unit(RM2000), any laptop, any Pocket PC, or even a 90's vintage Palm Pilot will do.
I've sent the unit in for examination, and Miotech simply returned the unit as-is with a note saying, "The device turns off automatically only if it's not charging." My issue with the device is that it will not "turn off" or even go into standby at all, ever. It also seems that maybe there's an english language problem at Mio Tech, as I've explained this to at least three techs and their supervisor. I've grown tired of telling the whole story over and over, resetting the unit, doing this and that, and waiting on hold repeatedly.
I've gotten a variety of different workarounds from Customer Support, including leaving the unit plugged in or exiting the MioMap software, which is fine if I remember, but I might as well just press the power button. It seems that when I forget to turn the device off and kill the battery, is also when I need to use it. Customer tech support has only made he hate this horrible device.
Pros: Acquires satellite signals quickly, "Smart Zoom," cheap, works as advertised if you remember to turn it off when done using it, compact aerodynamic form-factor will probably allow it to fly far when you throw it.
Cons: Tech support will make you regret getting this receiver, dead battery when you need to use it most, initial hunting around through the menus and backtracking to find certain settings, the usual complaints as other brands regarding inefficient calculated routes, and as mentioned by others, dim display and difficult to hear in a typical late-model sedan at normal highway speeds.

This is a great entry level GPS. It is very accurate and its maps are up to date. It acquires a satellite fix quickly and your on your way in no time. Inputting directions are very easy and the voice commands are very accurate. I would definitely suggest this device to a friend.
Pro : Accurate Maps
Con : N/A
I love my mio c220.The maps made by Tele Atlas make this baby worth every dime. They're detailed, accurate and very easy to read. I will never have to use paper maps, or directions again. I am very pleased with my purchase, and highly recommend this system.
Pro : Great Maps, Simple User Interface, Low Price
Con : a little thick
For the value, this GPS is very accurate although you address maybe a little off sometimes.
easy to program and use with the exception of the volume. No volume knob means going to several pages to set volume. It does have a mute option on the screen of you map.
With the exception of the power button, everything is on touch screen. No stylus is available, so pen would be handy to keep around.
I comes with a dash / windshield mound, map card dvd and car charger.
I could not get the dvd to work on my comp, or 2 players.
The only way of charging the C220, is with the car charger, it does not come with an AC charger nor does it offer it or any thing else for accessories.
Pro : accurate right out of the box,
Con : no AC adaptor or volume knob
I was one of the unfortunate ones to only find the "good" ratings and went with that..big mistake. Sure it is ready to use out of the box, but the volume is horrible, the maps are out of date, it completely turned me around in Minneapolis,MN and couldn't right itself. I've tried to get answers from Mio, but that is useless, basicly I'm stuck with a gps system that don't work well I guess it does work and if it had the map updates, that would at least make it worth the $100 I spent on it. Don't waste your money. I'm looking at a TomTom or a Garmin now. Just wish I would have been able to read this review before I bought mine. Good Luck!!!
Pro : Ummm…small..bright screen..that's about it.
Con : Everything else…CUST. SERVICE IS BAD…WAY OUTDATED MAPS…STILL CAN'T FIND ROADS DONE IN 2003…IS OFF OF MY HOME BY 200YDS…SPEAKER IS VERY QUIET, UNLESS YOU ARE IN THE CAR WITH NO OTHER NOISE ANYWHERE….NO UPDATES FOR THE MAPS…
bought the unit used it a few times and now the battery wont charge no matter how long i keep it hooked up to the car charger (and yes the car works) sorry i spent the money on this thing wished i would have spent more on a better unit
Tech support forget it I have 2 choices throw it away and spend more on a better unit or keep buying batteries that dont seem to hold a charge
Pro : cheap
Con : none
This is a good navigation system. The biggest flaw I have seen with this model is the lack of updates for the maps. The area I live in has had many changes to the roads lately, and this model does not have any updates available. It is very easy to use. It has plenty of points of interest programmed into it, but once again, you cannot update these. It has always navigated me to my desired destination.
Pro : Ease of use
Con : Lack of updated maps
I had a older magellan which I loved but when it quit I just wanted something to"get me through" . I personally prefer this unit by far now that I am used to it. Better map detail, Much Better POI which is one of the main features I use. Read your book or mess around with features for a day and You will g=have it figured out. You can search POI or it has a very detailed list from which to search. Large tough screen buttons.mute feature. The only downfall I've seen is I've has to "rebooted" it twice in the 2 yrs I've had it. It can worry you but It has always reloded fine for me. I went out and bought a Magellan crossover when they 1st came out($500) and it was not near as clear and defined a map and screen even though it had Topo which is great for the geocaching game I play.It (crossover)was definitely not my favorite unit of the 2.I even bought my Mother one for christmas this year
Pro : Inexpensive,Multiple views,Larger text,Lot's Of POI's that are easy to search
Con : Must reload software on occasion
This is a good startup GPS. I wish there is a way I can get updated maps.
Pro : A great value starter GPS
Con : Lack of update on maps
This is a great GPS. It was perfect for me because I don't need all of the bells and whistles. I just need directions on where I need to go and that is exactly what this GPS does! The maps are very accurate and the device is easy to use!
Pro : Maps are reliable
Con : none
