can any one tell me that nokia n95 gps work without gprs service and what is a roll of bluetooth in gps. ?

i want to buy a gadget with gps. but i dont have gprs enable services provider. will nokia n95 gps work

GPS and GPRS are two totally different technologies. GPS stands for Global Positioning System, a triangulation method using GPS satellites to calculate location, speed etc.

General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) is a Mobile Data Service available to users of Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) and IS-136 mobile phone.

So, if your phone has a GPS chip, it will work with or without any GPRS service in the area. In fact logically speaking you don't even need a SIM card for GPS to work.

Some phones that do not have a built in GPS need a separate GPS receiver. This receiver communicates with the phone/ handheld to plot the location and process the data using a mapping software. This communication is enabled using bluetooth.

i know what a bluetooth is and how to use it in a cell but how can a gps use bluetooth ? is it to sent files or connect to a pc wireless

What is the difference between expensive Bluetooth GPS receiver (around $220) and generic ones under ($50) eventhough both have 32 channals.

There typically isn't much. However most of the more expensive receivers are a bit more durable, have faster satellite acquisition times, and are faster at determining their position from a cold start.

The cheaper receivers may not have much (if any warranty), and may take two to three times as long to acquire satellites and determine position.
