How many people know what Geocaching is?
Please indicate whether you play the game or just know what it is.
I know what geocaching is. I started playing in May of 2002. So far I have found over 80 caches. I am also the president of the Manitoba Geocaching Association.
I compare geocaching to 21st century high-tech orienteering. However, the best quote was on a t-shirt: "I use multi-billion dollar military satellite systems to find Tupperware in a forest."
Iphone for GPS and golf… How good is this function and do you have pointers?
Thanks… live in LA.
Check out GolfTraxx – LA is a REALLY large geographic area, so the answer is that they have many courses mapped within a region, but just how close to you depends on where you live.
IF your favorite courses are not mapped they provide a way to map the course and send it in. You don’t map on course – you use Google Earth and send in a KML file based on their instructions. Takes 15 minutes when you know the course and know how to move in Google Earth. I’ve mapped a lot of courses, and can bang them out pretty quick.
On course IT IS GREAT! Serious eye-candy AND if you keep it under wraps, you can take a few skins off your foursome.
AND this puppy is FREE.
How can I send coordinates to my Garmin GPS?
Is there a website that sends coordinates (typed in by the user) to a Garmin GPS?
Thanks in advance!
You can download them, via your USB cable, onto your Garmin straight from www.geocaching.com. If you're not geocaching, then I don't know. Maybe you need updated maps, and, yes, I'd check the Garmin site.
Do either the Magellan Maestro 3200 or the Navigon 2100 GPS have maps and directions for Canada?
Which one offers maps to Canada?
Navigon 2100 does not cover Canada. They have another model, the 2120, which does.
Don't know about Magellan.
Why are cell phone companies still using cellular towers for locating cell phones instead of GPS?
What are their reasons if almost every phone has a GPS chip in it now?
Because only about 10% of all cellphone have a GPS chip in it in reality. Most people have cellphones that are up to 2 years old or more, and the older the cellphones the less likely they are to have GPS functions at all. As more and more people want GPS features in their cellphones, the phone manufactures make more and more PDA-style cellphones with GPS in them, and tend to ignore the other cellphones. The main exception to this are phones made for the Nextel iDEN line – almost all of these phones have GPS built in.
what is the best GPS tracking device and how much does it cost to buy? cost per month?
i want to be able to follow my vehicle where ever it goes. which is the best device for that? what service plan does it use? what is the cost?

How can I import my address data from a program like mappoint to a car gps. needs to have route optimization?
I would like to get a gps device for the car that i can import addresses from my desktop into and optimize the route. Currently i use microsoft mappoint for my software.
Just like Colanth already indicated, it is unfortunately not possible to import stops into a GPS unit built into cars.
However, if you use MapPoint on your desktop for trip planning, you could consider getting a small inexpensive "netbook". Such a mini-laptop can be purchased for around $200. Add a small USB or Bluetooth GPS unit for about $30 or $40, and you can use your MapPoint, with all the stops, right in your car or truck, for GPS navigation.

What do liberals think about the Massachusetts gps and tax mileage proposal?
Do people think it is a good idea to tax mileage? Do people think it is a good idea for the gov't to be able to monitor where you are driving? How much will it cost for the gov't to install gps systems? Will that outweigh the cost of the mileage tax? Will the mileage tax also hurt the lower paid people that drive long distances for their jobs? Or will they be exempt?
Anything that will take money out of your pocket and put it into theirs, they are all for it.
