Difference between bluetooth and non-bluetooth GPS system for vehicle?
I was wondering want the difference is between a bluetooth and a non-bluetooth GPS system for vehicles. Is Bluetooth better? If so, why? Thanks.

With bluetooth you can route phone calls from your cell phone right thru the car’s audio system. It is kind of helpful but really nothing amazing. You also might be able to transfer maps/routes, not sure though. It’s a new feature but it’s nothing I’d spend the extra money on.
What does the term "duck" mean with regards to backpacking or geocaching?
I've just learned of a game called geocaching. You use a GPS to locate hidden items placed in remote spots around the world. One of the clues for a cache near my home says that a previous visitor had "ducked" the cache. The term seems to be used in backpacking as well.
Do you know what this means?
I prefer the term cairn over "duck", but both describe a stack of stones indicating the path of the trail. Some trails consist entirely of cairns, while others have cairns only in difficult spots such as over granite slabs where there is no worn path. Most cairns in the Sierras are small, just three flatish stones. From one cairn you should be able to see the next one and so one proceeds along the trail. Sometimes the middle stone protrudes toward the direction of travel, giving the stack a "duck" like appearance. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cairn
Some people think it's fun to make cairns and sometimes they'll appear where they aren't needed, and I try to knock them down for the sake of untouched wilderness.
I have a tom tom gps and I was wondering can you turn it into a golf gps as well to play golf and for driving.?
Is there a software that you can download to your tom tom to use it as a golf rangefinder. Thanks!!!!
No – they don’t have a means for you to load 3rd party SW to the unit.
If you have a GPS enabled smart phone, check out GolfTraxx – won’t set you back for another piece of HW.

How Do I get corrected an inacccurate address location on mapquest and google maps & GPS devices?
When you type my address into google maps or mapquest it gives the wrong location. This is namely due to the fact that the street I live on was built 5 years ago. It is an extentsion of an existing street and it shows up on the aerial photos if you change to that view. Is there anyway to contact the vendors who provide this info. to Google, MapQuest and other GPS devices. If people use what is there, they wind up on the wrong side of a busy street and it is one of those "you can't get there from here" situations, w/o doing a lot of turns.
Many thanks.
There are two companies who provide the majority of the street data to the GPS companies and companies providing mapping services like Google Maps, Yahoo Maps, and MapQuest. Those two companies are Tele Atlas and NAVTEQ. Both of those companies have online tools where you can report errors found in their databases.
Typically the GPS device or the mapping service will have a copyright tag somewhere that will indicate which mapping service they got their data from. For example Garmin, Magellan, and the Google Maps website use NAVTEQ data primarily. TomTom, Mio, and the Google Maps API use Tele Atlas data.
You can read a comparison of the two companies here:
http://www.gpsreview.net/navteq-vs-tele-atlas/
For Tele Atlas corrections you can report them via their MapInsight program here:
http://mapinsight.teleatlas.com/
For NAVTEQ corrections you can report them via their MapReporter program here:
http://mapreporter.navteq.com/dur-web-external/
In both cases those companies go through lots of work to evaluate the validity of changes before they are implemented. Also it can take a long time for the downstream provider (Google Maps, etc) to *implement* changes they receive from the vendors, even if the vendor accepts the change quickly. In other words if you submit a correction today, don't expect to see that change reflected tomorrow… or next week… in some cases it can take a year or more to validate a change, distribute the new information, and have the downstream provider implement that change.
How do I track other cell phones by using the GPS feature on the Verizon LG Voyager?
I have little cousins and I would like to help keep an eye on them by tracking their phone like the Disney phones but using a Verizon phone.
The GPS just tells the telephone where it is. There has to be some other software application that sends that GPS information to a another receiver with the ability to read and display that location information. Check with your retailer to see if any of their phones have the ability to receive and process GPS information from other phones equipped with GPS capabilities.
Do I have to download software for a GPS tracking device in order to erase information?
I have a GPS tracking device that only works for 30 hours. I need to erase the information that is on it, but don’t have the software. Can the GPS be reset to delete information?
Depending on what type of GPS tracking device you have, not Knowing the brand it would be difficult.
I would say probably call the company that you purchased the tracking device from and as for support or a copy of the software to view the log file.
I am thinking you have one of those data tracking device that does not report your position on the internet, if you have one of those units, the information is stored in a server somewhere and who ever is tracking you can see you real time on a computer where you have been.
Best bet is to contact the tracking manufacturer to find out what is the correct process.
You can find tracking devices on Auto Nav 2000 Plus, Inc website at http://www.autonav2000.com/mall/anProdList2.asp?GroupID=194 or you can even rent one from GPS4Rent at http://www.gps4rent.com/ if you wish to compare the unit you have compare to what is posted on the website to verify which system you may have.
how do i track my car with gps device installed?
My car has a GPS Tracking device already installed how do i track the car on the internet?
" My car has a GPS Tracking device already installed how do i track the car on the Internet?"
The average GPS receiver does not have a transmitter and will not allow you to track your truck or car so you will need a real GPS tracking device.
Some vehicle have OnStar which can find the location of your vehicle and some use car dealers may install tracking device to keep track of their property till it it paid off.
It really depends on what type of tracking device you have purchased. Some GPS tracking device only record where the vehicle has been and you have to remove the tracking device to retrieve the route information. There are other GPS tracking device that uses GPRS and you can track it almost real time on the Internet, about every 2 minutes or so.
There are also GPS devices that uses both GPRS and WiFi like the DASH navigation system.
There are device like TomTom that you can sign up with TomTom Plus service and track your friends that have TomTom Devices.

There are AVL fleet tracking systems that you can use to track your GPS unit on the internet also.

How much do you have to invest in a GPS after intial purchase?
I want to buy a GPS and the intial cost isn't a problem for me. But are there a lot of "upkeep costs" like buying updates and maps and such. Is there a GPS out there that is a one-time cost deal with free upgrades?
Maybe you would not need updates. Things stay the same for a long time. You can make save the sites you want to return to and may find you don't use the mapping much.
If you are going to use it indoors you need to make sure to buy one which can lock on to the satellites without line of sight. Many of them struggle with that.
